With a new album out, you’ll likely be HEARING
Ed Sheeran for quite awhile — but don’t expect to actually see him playing music. After playing around 250 shows over the past two years, traveling all over the world, and continuing to create music, Sheeran has announced that as the
Divide tour ends, so will his musical career — at least for now.

The singer made the announcement on stage during the final date of the tour, which was in Ipswitch, England.
“As you may or not know, I’ve been on the Divide tour for over two years now and this is the last day of the whole thing,” the 28-year-old said, according to The Sun. “There is something very bittersweet about it. I love that you guys are here and we are ending it in Ipswich. This is my last gig for probably 18 months.”
Sheeran has played around the world over the past two years, and it’s on track to make $750 million, which would make the famous redhead the highest paid solo musician of 2018.
He admitted that the decision to move on wasn’t an easy one.
“It’s been an emotional day for a lot of people backstage. It kind of feels like, in a weird way, that you’re breaking up with a girlfriend that you’ve been with for years. It sounds odd but it has been a long tour,” he explained, before finishing by saying, “I want to say thank you to everyone on this tour. You to everyone who has given me a chance. This is my last song…See you in a few years time. Thank you.”
After a tour that long, it’s not shocking that he might want to take a break — maybe hang out with wife Cherry Seaborn. The two wed in a video that was posted to his YouTube channel the same day he dropped his recent album, No.6 Collaborations Project in June.
